especially for lynn

If you read Country Living you will perhaps appreciate that, on a windy day, it is not enough simply to go into the garden and collect a handful of blown-down sticks to light the fire.

Oh no.

If your heart is truly in the country, you must tie them with twine and prepare a hand-stamped label with which to identify your twigs...

Then, and only then, can you burn them.

but not before taking an arty photo:)
Thanks Sue your twigs have put a cheer in my heart.
For all the wrong reasons.....

I have to confess to a shameful weakness for country living magazine, it is one of my self indulgences. But now that I live the life I can tell you that only those with a houseful of servants would have their twigs labelled!
Still, nice photo.

That cheered me up no end, this morning! I have to say, I only read Country Living at the Doctor's, but that photo could have come straight out of it!!

Elizabeth I too love CL and even subscribe to it! Sometimes it just makes me snort with laughter though.

My husband would tell you I have the same problem with him...

Would you laugh if I said I have tied up bundles of twigs before?
You would wouldn't you. In my favour, I didn't label them . . .

Jane, if I laughed at you I would have to laugh at myself too...

Bundles of twigs are the new black :-)

I make bundles of twigs in the garden. The massive silver birch trees down by the lawn drop loads of twigs in storms. I bundle them because the freshly fallen ones… particularly the slender, trailing ones... are flexible and wrap the bundles securely, enabling me to carry more to the house for the kindling basket next to the fire. But labelling them? Clearly dreamed up by someone who never had to look after a big garden!
