thank you

I have been amazed and thankful to so many of you for taking the trouble to contribute to the discussion in the previous post... you have given me a lot of encouragement and many things to continue thinking about... lots of buttons in the pot. Thank you.

Here's what our mantlepiece looks like today... a mix of love and winter... snowflakes that have been hanging since Christmas and a significant number of deep red velvety roses...

It will look bare when everything is taken down again, won't it?

I love that taupe-y coloured wall it is a perfect backdrop for your snowflakes and roses. I am sure you will find something else to display when you take them down.

During the weekend I took down the Christmas decoration, except the twinkling lights. It's again back in the boxes, carefully closed till the next time! I made a lot of Valentine's hearts, in red and white, and now they give a new atmosphere to the rooms... It's a little bit sad, though.:(
I continue to follow your blog with a great pleasure and curiosity!

what beautiful snowflakes, I love them, got my pattern from the link thank you, can you remember whether the instructions were in UK or USA - I know their stitches are different....I have also bought a crochet hook (Treated myself to a brittany) one ball of chocolate yarn, your lovely colour combinations have inspired me, what do you think - you are so good with colour? I ave a neutral, grey blue and chocolate, perhaps a duck egg blue???? So ready to start my blanket...doing a jumper with some other yarn and already feel dissatisfied...typical!

Sue, your snowflakes are wonderful! I learned to make them via YouTube tutorials and was pleased with my efforts - until I spotted these! Please share your secret. Lesley

I have no doubt you will adorn that wall with something beautiful for spring! your last post reminded me of a quote I found some time ago..."Do not compare your pain with others. The worst pain you will ever feel is your own. That does not mean you are selfish-it means you are human." (Gary Oliver)and of course a passage from Proverbs, 'Each heart knows it's own bitterness' (Prov. 1 4:10

Sue, what thoughtful, varied comments your posts continue to attract.

I do love the look of those doily white snowflakes over your mantle. Here in NY, we had some more of the natural moist snowflakes falling for hours today. It was too warm for this force of flakes to accumulate, but they did look pretty through the shop's window.

You say thank you, and I say thank you back to you. xo

You arrange things so beautifully - I would never have thought of doing the roses like that! And yet they are perfect!

And those snowflakes are even better "in the flesh" so to speak!!

Thank you for posting such an inspirational and peaceful photograph. And blog, of course!

Just caught up with your blog and read about your "perfect" life. I appreciate that you don't tell all the details. I read your blog for the relaxation you give me and for the beauty of the photos. You often given me something to think about. While I appreciate that bloggers occasionally share their family, pets and an occurrence that is sad or scary (a serious accident, a death in the family) I don't read blogs for someone's dirty dishes or rebellious teenager. The blogs I read are an escape - a chance to see something beautiful and, as is the case with your blog, an opportunity to pause and ponder about something. The rest of it - well, that's my life too! Thank you for sharing your beautiful world and peaceful times.

On re-reading your previous post Sue, I can only reiterate what others have said. Personally I love to come over to your blog and be tantalised and delighted by what I find. Yes, nobody's life is 'perfect' but who wants to read about that? There has to be a balance sure but on the whole we want to read about and share good and positive things. So hurrah for Mouse Notebook.
