handmade stationery giveaway

In the evenings this week I've been making myself some stationery, using things I already had in the cupboard... a big box of white envelopes, some beautiful white conqueror paper, brown wrapping paper and a stack of old catalogues with lovely patterns and images too lovely to throw away.

First I went through the catalogues and punched out circles from the best bits in muted colours, a flowery, oriental, decorative feel to them... then I cut the paper to size to fit the envelopes, stuck a pretty circle on the top and backed it with another circle in nice white card. Then I lined the envelopes with my favourite brown paper and sorted them into sets of five.

I have one of these sets to give away to you lovely people and three or four others to put in my shop... leave me a comment if you'd like one and I'll pick a name on Sunday and put the other packs in the shop at the same time in case you're unlucky in the giveaway.

That's beautiful and there's nothing to beat a "proper" letter written by hand on some stunning paper is there?

Lovely stationery Sue. You have inspired me to put to good use some of the magazines I collect. I really like the simple oriental feel to them. Fingers crossed I'm the lucky recipient!

Sue, I usually think of you creating with textiles, although I do remember your telling me about the wonders of a circular cutter.

And have I followed up on finding one of those cutters? No, I have not yet done so. Now, you've again shown me possibilities.

I also don't know what conquerer paper is and will have to investigate.

Gigibird's comment is so true.

Of course, I would love to win this marvelous stationery. Yet, what really crosses my mind is that the "high street" shops might just see what you've done and grab the idea without the spirit that created the idea. And what I would like to do is to find out what conquerer paper is, and get a circle cutter, and find a way to let my imagination convert my stack of old magazines into some treasures.

Oh Sue, it's that question again about the creative versus the commercial.

Best wishes to you, dear friend. xo

Beautiful note sets - so soft and chic.
I love the upcycled aspect. I do quite a bit of art swapping, and I enjoy slipping a friendly note in each package. These would be perfect!

That hand-made stationary looks lovely. When I was poorly last year I got great pleasure in receiving hand written get-well and newsy notes. I think the art of letter writing should be encouraged.

Where's your shop? Is it near North Yorkshire?

What a nice idea - to make this lovely stationary! I think that the choice of the writing paper reveal one's attitude to the person he's going to write. But shows also tne taste of its creator. I like very much the colours you have used. The sheets and the envelopes look elegant! with your giveaway you'll make someone happy for sure and he, on his turn, will make some more people happy... It's so exciting to receive a REAL letter nowadays!
