In the midst of life it is the small but lovely things that sing out... like this little bunch of gloriously scented just-picked flowers from the garden... and a piece of sponge cake with lemon curd and cream... I am particularly happy about this as I have finally discovered how to make a light-as-air sponge cake which is also gluten free. A mini-triumph... the best kind, I think.

Beautiful flowers and delicious looking cake - so uplifting to see these pics, Sue. x
gluten free lemon curd cake, I am green with envy xxxx
How right you are!
And, judging by the beautiful flowers, your garden must be a delight!
I'm sure the cake is as delicious as it looks! Very mouth-watering indeed!
Oh Sue, I do agree that cake is a triumph! If the temperature here would slip way down below its current 99 degrees F, I would consider turning on the oven and doing some baking myself.
Meanwhile, I will just laze about and contemplate possibilities of sponge, cream and lemen curd.

How perfect, pretty flowers and delicious cake! It's the little things in life that give us the most pleasure isn't it!
What a beautiful posy of flowers. I'm inspired to go into the garden right now......
I totally agree it is often the simple things which give the most pleasure if we don't let the complexities of life take over and smother them...
looks wonderful!
oh both look delicious!

More than a mini triumph I'd say.
The flowers caught my eye, in particular the Alstroemeria. I love that plant but cannot grow it to save my life. It seems to do so well in neighbours gardens, what is the secret?
My favourite kind of arrangement! Recipe please though! Do check out my blog and see my attempt at printing such jug of blooms....
