Elizabeth Blackadder

I wish I could tell you this was my work... but it's Elizabeth Blackadder... I'm really looking forward to seeing her retrospective at the Scottish National Galleries this autumn.

I've been a bit of a renegade on my art course and haven't done the last two assignments. I have been doing a lot of experimental drawing though, which I think is more valuable to me in my growth and development. Nothing even half good enough to show... but maybe one day soon.

PS Hopefully I have sorted out the missing picture now... please let me know if you still can't see it.

Hello Sue.

I also like EB, and her flowers and cats and how she translates them with her painting.

It's good that you are being a bit of renegade from your class assignments. Even better that you are continuing to do your very own explorations.

Spring is slowing arriving in New York. I can still hear a very fierce-sounding wind outside my windows tonight.

Still kicking myself for not buying a painting of Delphiniums by EB in 1984! Was at a private view and was due to exchange on buying my first flat the next day - came home and my landlord told me to call the vendor no matter how late it was - they'd pulled out of the deal - waaaaah!
Should have gone back and bought that painting, it would have been a great investment - I was (am!) so cautious!

Elizabeth Blackadder is one of my favourite artists I love the way she draws and then expresses it in print and painting. Hmmm wonder if I can make it to Scotland this autumn?

(I cannot see the photo either)

Sue, I like your work better than Elizabeth Blackadder's... I really mean it!

Good to hear that you are drawing and developing your own work. I also love Elizabeth Blackadder, she paints in such a decorative way, unfussy but complex at the same time. I really admire her style. Will we see an EB influence in your new work I wonder?

I own several Elizabeth Blackadders - in the form of postcards. She is definitely one of my favourites. How absolutely lovely to be having an art holiday at home.

Your beautiful garland is hanging in my kitchen. I adore it.
