morning surprise

Look what dropped through my door this morning... this gorgeous glazed clay ornament and beautiful card by Susan Schwake. Isn't it just the loveliest? It arrived as part of the ornament swap which I joined last month... lots of little treasures have been plopping onto the mat but this one has really made it for me... thanks Susan! Have a look at her lovely work, it is amazing.

Otherwise things are a bit of a pine-scented blur hereabouts. The tree is up and lots of things are ready, but also lots of things aren't. I have been making a few gifts but have to confess I always get stressed at this time of year and this one is no exception. I have been rather grumpy :-(

Never mind, it will all work out just as it always does, and there is the calm quiet promise of the new year just coming into view on the horizon with its call of new beginnings and resolutions... more art, more drawing, more time to create... yes please.

Your tree is lovely, and you didn't seem grumpy to me the other day!

And thank you for your remark on my blog!

That ornament is very beautiful as are your thrifty Christmas cards by the way. I hope you don't mind if I half inch the idea.

I like yr comment re christmas being stressful. As well as hearing from people you love, it's a time which can highlight relationships that don't work, and things that have not worked out. I think it must be a terrible time for people who've no longer got partners here etc as it somehow highlights what is not there as well as hearing from loved ones. I like how you are emotionally honest, like when you talked about art making and not being able to be a supermum and do it all.

I am a big believer in not trying to do too much at Christmas - stiking to your lovely circles seems a good start. Let's junk tinsel for this year. I am a big cake lover so also really liked your cake. Ours is not yet iced as daughter who can create more than just a rough snow scene is not yet on hand.

I'm glad I'm not the only grumpy one!! My problem is I hate shopping, with 3 kids there's a lot of shopping to do... I'm with you hoping for more time for artmaking next year.

Such a beautiful post. If I were your friend I wouldn't want to 'open' the papier maché balls. So beautiful.I hope you have a lovely Christmas with your family. I'm sure it will be a very special first Christmas for a little someone.
